The Mill Arts Centre Exhibition: Emma Wilkinson

Each day over the next two weeks, we introduce an artist exhibiting their work at The Mill Arts Centre. Read on to discover more about your favourite local artists.

Emma Wilkinson will be showing a collection of Life of Bear cartoons, featuring her cheeky chocolate labrador Bear and his adventures in their home village of Fenny Compton, Warwickshire. Coincidentally, Emma began drawing cartoons right here at The Mill in classes with the fantastic Chrissie Borland. Since that first dip into cartoon art, Emma has drawn a cartoon every month for the children's pages of the Compton Chronicle village magazine. The cartoons became especially important during the Lock-downs, when Bear's wise words and general naughtiness helped to keep up village morale.

Emma's indian ink portraits of Mr Bean and The Vicar of Dibley were displayed in the local Merrie Lion pub window in Fenny Compton during lockdown as part of The Great Big Art Exhibition 2021. Emma chose her favourite British comic characters, to raise a smile or two from passers by!

Our exhibition is available to view at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Covid-19 procedures will be in place to keep everyone safe.
